For the month of December you can find a Crescent Rotarian (or two) ringing the bell for the Salvation Army in front of Macy’s at Friendly Center. Stop by and share some holiday cheer!

Contribute to the Shelter Box Program
The Crescent Rotary board has expressed a desire to help out our neighbors in the Philippines suffering from the devastation of the recent typhoon. Many thousands have lost their homes and Crescent Rotary wants to encourage our members to make a difference.
Typhoon Haiyan, known as Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines, was an exceptionally powerful tropical cyclone that devastated portions of Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines, in early November 2013.
By partnering with Crescent you can double the power of the money you give.
The Crescent Rotary Foundation is going to match the gifts given by our members or member companies up to a total number of $5000. These funds will go to supplying much needed shelter and water to those living in the devastated areas. If you are not familiar with the Shelter Box program you can click the link below and get a full understanding in about 6 minutes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyM_sk8tjEo&list=PL52D8102F8406F34C&index=1
Our goal is to raise $5000 and that translates to $62.50 for each of our 80+ members. If we can raise $5000 and the Crescent Foundation matches that number we should be able to provide 8 or 9 families with much needed shelter and clean drinking water. Obviously not everyone will be able to help, and some could help with much more but please consider what even a small gift can do to help those who have been effected by this devastation.
To contribute to this cause, please make your check out to: The Crescent Foundation and write Shelter box in the memo. Mail it to the club secretary Janice Coble, 6007 Devoncourt Place Jamestown, NC 27282. We will be accepting donations until the end of December and then into January if necessary.

TIMCO’s Purple Heart Homes picnic
Crescent Rotary Club was honored to participate in TIMCO’s Purple Heart Homes fundraising picnic held during lunch at TIMCO on September 25, 2013. They awarded Sgt. Nathan Harris the first TIMCO Challenge Coin, auctioned off nine other coins and had a raffle for a Harley. We also got to hear from one of the founders of Purple Heart Homes and learn more about the great work they’re doing. Great time with great people and organizations.
